If you’ve ever wanted to try acupuncture but weren’t sure where to start, the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (CCATCM) in Bedford, NS is one of the best places to begin.
It’s where I’m currently studying and practicing as a student acupuncturist, and it’s a space where you can receive authentic, full-length acupuncture treatments at an affordable rate, all within a supportive, educational clinic environment.
What Makes the Student Clinic Special
At CCATCM, every treatment is performed by a student practitioner (like me) under the supervision of a licensed, experienced acupuncturist.
That means you get the time, attention, and depth of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with extra care in observation, diagnosis, and explanation.
Appointments typically include a full consultation exploring your main concerns, sleep, digestion, menstrual cycle, and lifestyle, a tongue and pulse diagnosis to help us understand your body’s internal balance, and a personalized acupuncture treatment tailored to your TCM pattern, not just your symptoms.
Optional adjunct therapies like cupping, gua sha, or moxibustion may be included depending on your needs.
It’s not a rushed appointment, it’s an opportunity to slow down, be listened to, and feel what real holistic care feels like.
Who Can Benefit
We see people for everything from pain and tension to stress, anxiety, digestion, sleep issues, hormonal balance, fertility, and women’s health concerns.
Even if you’re simply curious about acupuncture, the student clinic is a safe and affordable way to experience it.
Many patients are surprised by how relaxing it feels, and how much shifts after just a few sessions.
What to Expect at Your First Appointment
When you arrive, you’ll fill out a short intake form and we’ll spend about 20 to 30 minutes getting to know you and your health goals.
After your acupuncture needles have been placed, you’ll rest quietly for about 20 to 30 minutes while the needles work their magic. You may also be offered additional treatments (at no extra cost) such as moxabustion, fire cupping, gua sha, or massage.
Your whole first visit usually takes about 90 minutes.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing and eat a light meal beforehand.

Why Try Acupuncture with a Student Practitioner
Because we’re learning, we’re deeply attentive.
We take the time to explain your treatment, answer your questions, and connect the dots between your symptoms and your overall balance.
Every point is chosen with care, and every treatment plan is reviewed by an experienced Dr. of TCM for safety and quality.
It’s a beautiful way to support both your health and the next generation of acupuncturists being trained right here in Atlantic Canada.
A Note from Me
As a student acupuncturist, I’m supporting more experienced students with their patients in the Bedford student clinic until January 2026 when I begin accepting my own patients. My focus areas include women’s health, fertility, postpartum recovery, and stress regulation, but I welcome all patients who are curious about how Traditional Chinese Medicine can help them feel more balanced and at home in their bodies.
If you’d like to experience acupuncture with me, I’d love to see you at the clinic.
A Gentle Note: I’m a student of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and this space reflects my learning as it unfolds. TCM is deep, layered, and complex, and I’m still finding my footing within it. I will refine my understanding over time. I will make mistakes. That’s part of doing this honestly. What I share here is my current perspective, shaped by my teachers, clinical training, lived experience, and my own biases. It’s not absolute, it’s evolving. I welcome thoughtful conversation, shared insight, and respectful correction along the way. I humbly welcome your insight. Let’s learn together. You can always find me over on Instagram to keep the conversation going.
