Student Clinic
As part of my clinical training in Traditional Chinese Medicine, I will be offering treatments at the CCATCM Student Clinic in Halifax Bedford, Nova Scotia.
Each session is guided by my instructors and includes a full TCM assessment — exploring your unique pattern of balance and imbalance through tongue, pulse, and symptom inquiry. Together, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan that may include acupuncture, acupressure massage, cupping, gua sha, or cosmetic facial rejuvenation techniques.
Student clinic visits are a wonderful way to experience Traditional Chinese Medicine in a supportive learning environment. Treatments are thorough and unhurried, with extra time devoted to discussion, education, and relaxation. My focus is always on helping women reconnect with their bodies — restoring harmony in the nervous system, digestion, hormones, and emotions through gentle, natural means.
What to Expect
As a student of Traditional Chinese Medicine, I’m offering treatments under the guidance of licensed supervisors. Each visit is a chance to experience this holistic medicine at a discounted rate, while allowing me to deepen my clinical practice and care for real clients in a professional setting.
When you arrive, you’ll be greeted by one of our friendly student practitioners and brought back to a private treatment area. Together, we’ll begin with a full TCM intake and assessment, exploring your health history, current symptoms, lifestyle, and emotional wellbeing. I’ll also look at your tongue and take your pulses to understand your unique internal landscape and create a personalized treatment plan just for you.
Your session may include a combination of acupuncture, acupressure massage, cupping therapy, gua sha, or cosmetic acupuncture and facial rejuvenation techniques, depending on your goals and comfort level. Whether you’re seeking hormone balance, stress relief, better sleep, or radiant skin, treatments are always tailored to your individual needs and designed to help your body remember what balance feels like.
Expect a thoughtful pace — time to talk, learn, and rest deeply. The student clinic is as much about healing as it is about understanding yourself through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
What makes the student clinic different from a private clinic?
Student clinic treatments are offered at a reduced rate because they’re part of our clinical training program. You’ll receive the same high quality care and individualized treatment plans, with the added support of professional supervision. Sessions may be slightly longer as we take extra time for discussion, learning, and feedback.
What kinds of treatments are available?
Depending on your needs, we may use acupuncture, acupressure massage, cupping, gua sha, or facial rejuvenation acupuncture. These therapies work to move Qi and Blood, release tension, calm the nervous system, and restore your body’s natural vitality.
How can I book or join the waitlist?
Appointments are limited each semester. You can join my Bedford, NS student clinic waitlist below to be notified when new booking dates open.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Sometimes—yes. And I think you deserve an honest answer.
Acupuncture isn’t usually what people think of as “painful,” but it’s not always sensation-free either. Depending on what we’re treating, you might feel a quick pinch, warmth, heaviness, tingling, pressure, or a deep achy sensation—what we often call arriving at Qi in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Some points are barely noticeable. Others can feel surprisingly strong—especially if we’re working with muscle tension, stubborn pain patterns, or areas where your body has been holding stress for a long time.
The goal isn’t to “tough it out.” The goal is effective treatment, and I’ll always work with your comfort level while still giving your body what it needs.
What should I do before or after my treatment?
Try to eat a light meal beforehand and avoid caffeine right before your session. Afterward, give yourself time to rest, hydrate, and notice how your body feels. Acupuncture continues working long after you leave the clinic, so gentle movement and early bedtime are wonderful ways to support the process.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your goals and how long you’ve been experiencing your symptoms. Some people notice shifts right away, while others need several sessions to see deeper, lasting changes. We’ll review your progress each visit and adjust your plan as your body begins to rebalance.
How It Works
1. Intake & Consultation
Every treatment begins with a thoughtful conversation. We’ll explore your health history, current symptoms, lifestyle, and emotional wellbeing through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I’ll observe your tongue, take your pulses, and listen closely to your story — because every detail helps me understand your unique pattern of balance and imbalance. From there, with the support of my clinic supervisor, I create a treatment plan designed just for you.
2. Treatment & Deep Rest
Once your plan is set, you’ll settle in for your treatment. Each session is a chance to reconnect with your body — to rest, reset, and allow the medicine to move. You may feel warmth, tingling, or a deep calm as your Qi begins to flow more freely.
3. Follow-Up & Adjustment
Healing is a process, not a one-time event. Each follow-up session begins with a brief check-in so we can notice what’s changed, refine your treatment, and build on your progress. Over time, we adjust techniques and focus areas to help your body find its natural rhythm and lasting balance.
