If your body had a group chat, these three would definitely be the ones talking the loudest.
Poop. Periods. Pulses.

They are the best friends who tell the truth even when no one asked.
They are messy, honest, dramatic, predictable, unpredictable, and occasionally chaotic.
And from a TCM perspective, they are pure gold.

Here is what your body is texting your acupuncturist when you visit the clinic.

Poop: “Hey, I am not subtle, but at least I am honest.”

Your stools give some of the clearest messages about digestion, hydration, stress, emotions, and overall Qi flow.
Hard, soft, sticky, dry, urgent, sluggish, once a day, five times a day, rabbit pellets, logs, long stories.
There is no TMI when it comes to your poop.
This is basically the group chat moderator.

Periods: “I will tell you everything you forgot to mention.”

Your cycle reports on hormones, stress, blood quality, circulation, and how well your organs are working together.
Flow, timing, cramps, mood changes, cravings, clots, energy dips.
Your period texts the entire group chat at once, loudly and with passion, but always with information.

Pulses: “I am the friend who smiles quietly but knows all your secrets.”

Deep, floating, wiry, soft, slippery, choppy, thin, strong.
Your pulses reveal what your body is working on behind the scenes.
They are subtle, wise, and incredibly honest.

Together, they are the ultimate trio

Poop gives immediate feedback.
Periods give monthly patterns.
Pulses give the deeper story.

When you put them together, your acupuncturist gets a complete picture of your internal world without you having to explain every detail.

None of this is embarrassing

Your body is supposed to communicate this way.
It is not weird.
It is not gross.
It is not unladylike.
This is how your channels talk.

Your job is to share what you can

You do not have to prepare a speech.
Just tell me what you remember.
Poop, periods, and pulses will fill in the rest.

The truth is, your body is always talking

And your acupuncturist is always listening.
This is how practitioners everywhere work, and these three clues help me understand exactly what you need.

Your body is not confusing.
It is just communicating in its own language.
I will translate.

A Gentle Note: I’m a student of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and this space reflects my learning as it unfolds. TCM is deep, layered, and complex, and I’m still finding my footing within it. I will refine my understanding over time. I will make mistakes. That’s part of doing this honestly. What I share here is my current perspective, shaped by my teachers, clinical training, lived experience, and my own biases. It’s not absolute, it’s evolving. I welcome thoughtful conversation, shared insight, and respectful correction along the way. I humbly welcome your insight. Let’s learn together.
